approaching a guy, who goes to my gym. Options

how do I approach this guy, whose name
I don't know, I've never spoken to, but
have been seeing in my gym for several
weeks in a row now? I catch him looking
at me alot, and once we actually locked
gazes.. Next time that happens should I
smile at him? If he smiles back, then
do I introduce myself? Or is that too soon?
If so how long do I wait? And then, what
the hell do I say??

well Im your age, and I flirt tremendously
with guys I actually know.. but this is a
stranger and I've never had to start a fling
out of thin air. I never went to public school
where 95% of the school are strangers to you.
That could have been good practice lol.

I'll smile, maybe ask his name, but I don't
have enough self confidence to wink lol. :]
