graduation is coming up, and I need to buy a gift for my friend.
she's really into art, and is going to RISD (Rhode Island School of Design).
I am completely lost when it comes to art, so I would greatly appreciate it if you guys have any ideas as to what would be a good gift for her! _smile.gif

maybe some pointers on some good quality things that artists would use. (Pencils 4b, 2b, or hb?, pens, sketchbooks, what brand?, etc.)
and it would be really great if any of you have a creative way to wrap the gift or something.

thanks!

What I have recieved as gifts are "starter" kits such as Watercolor Pencil sets and Pastels. I really loved them because it came with technique books to jumpstart my experience. If there is a certain type of media she would like to get into, I really suggest these kind of kits! (Can usually be found in large book stores, and art stores) Sketchbooks and pencils are nice, but it's more like buying "school" supplies for her.

Or maybe a sketchbook with a cover you decorate yourself? That would be very thoughtful.

That's a really great idea, if you are feeling creative! I know that I'd feel very honored to have a friend put effort into the gift instead of just money.
