Yes I think it is alright. Because first, it disciplines your child and teaches them that what they did was wrong so that they can learn the difference between right and wrong... But if taken too far (bruises, bleeding, etc.) like child abuse, absolutely no! I also agree with Kathleen, kids need to know what's right and wrong and not just do whatever the heck they want. Kids these days...
