You know, it's not as simple as just eating less, or staying active. There are a lot of forces working against a girl that aren't against a guy. We gain water weight A LOT easier than guys. I'm just finding a lot of things out myself, because I'm over weight and I'm in the process of getting into better eating and exercise habits.
The nutritionist I went to suggests these things to me:
You could try eating things with low-sodium.
Also try not eating things with tones of calories. I know, everyone hates calorie counters, but I'm not saying be obsessive. Just more aware.
Plan your meals, eat at the right times during the day, and be sure to eat slow, and in small portions.
Be sure to chew slowly and savor each bite, and take smaller bites.

By planning your meals you're able to monitor how many calories, how much sodium, and what not you're taking in. Your body goes through cycles in the day, and you digest better when eating during those times. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And actually, snacks aren't bad for you. Just try eating an apple as a snack or something.
It takes your brain 20 minutes or so to tell you your full. Thats why you should chew your food slowly, and to take in the taste of each bite. Smaller bites usually means grinding the food you're eating into smaller bits, which is easier on your stomach for digestion.

And of course, be as active as you can. Break a sweat, sweating means your burning those bad calories and getting rid of stored water!

Also you should remember, everyones body is different, and if you're REALLY worried about your weight... Make an appointment with your local nutritionist like I did.
