So me and my girlfriend have been together for about 5 months, but have been liking each other for over a year and a half now. I've already gotten her a necklace and a bracelet for valentine's day and our 3 month anniversary, so I was thinking maybe i should get her a ring. I asked a couple of my friends about this, and a few of them thought that giving her a ring would be a little too serious of a present. She and I have talked about marriage, (not getting married, but what it would be like if we did, etc), just in normal conversations. Do you guys think that giving a ring as a birthday present might seem too serious?

Any opinions/advice would be appreciated. Girls, please chime in?

btw. I already bought the ring...but i don't want her to think that im getting to serious about our relationship..

no, i dont think its got real stones. heres the story behind the ring:

Okay well in my culture, whenever a bride gets married, everyone gives her gold as presents...well..gold or money. but yeah.

so in America, gold is generally low quality, 18kt, 14kt, etc, and its pretty expensive. so last year when my family visited Pakistan, my mom bought a bunch of gold rings and other jewelry to give as presents when people get married, because its all 22kt and its a lot cheaper than it is here anyway. While we were there, I bought one as well just in case i ever wanted to give it as a present to anyone. So the ring is really pretty, but it doesn't have any real jewels, just like. small pretty looking ones i guess.
