Hi guys! My sister is thinking to do her BSc in London and I would like to know whether there are cases of bird flu over there. Is it safe to go to that country? I have already told her not to consume the poultry products over there and also I have read that tamiflu; http://www.drugdelivery.ca/bird-flu.aspx is very effective for protecting yourself from catching the bird flu virus. If you have some latest news on the bird flu in England please let me know about it.

Actually... QUOTE Avian influenza A/(H7N2) in the United Kingdom 29 May 2007 On 25 May 2007, the United Kingdom Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced that influenza A/H7N2 virus infection had been laboratory confirmed in four individuals exposed to infected poultry in Corwen Farm, Conwy, Wales. The poultry outbreak in Wales started on a smallholding, Corwen Farm, Conwy, on 8 May 2007, was laboratory confirmed on 24 May 2007, and notified to the World Organisation for Animal Health on 25 May 2007. Source = World Health Organization I doubt, though, that your sister has anything to worry about. ![]() This is a pretty isolated case, and it's in Wales, not London. Bird flu is more commonly associated with places like China, Indonesia or Thailand. |
