I CAN'T DO IT.
I joined a while back (3 years ago), and I was inactive for a while; it causes me to have a teeny "avg. posts per day," and I really want to be an Official Member. I don't know why. I JUST HAVE TO :( I know it's the same as being an Official Promoter or whatever, but... I don't know. It would be easier to create a new screenname and start over, but I am loyal to this screenname and all its wonderful history. So.. maybe we can invent a rule for users like me (joined a long time ago, were inactive at first, but later became more active) that covers the min. of 5 posts p. day? :D ^_^ |

Sorry, but who are you directing your comment at?
I don't understand why people are saying the membership will be just "handed over." That was not my intention at all. I am asking for another way to obtain the Official Member status without having to have the PPD if you were absent for a long time. I'm sure that Anna can give me a "run for my money." But, she probably would have appreciated it if another rule or exception like this was made when she was struggling to get back to the minimum. People who are applying will still have to follow all the other guidelines and be required to have something else (which we are not sure of, yet) INSTEAD of a 5 PPD. Anna, of course, would have been able to use this considering she is one of cB's most highly respected members and has contributed so much. I mean, many people could have it easily handed it to them if there is only the PPD rule. All they have to do is get a new screenname and post for a few days, and voila! They have all the requirements. |

I can't say that I particularly agree. I remember just posting a lot at the time because obtaining official member status was something to work for, and I didn't particularly mind that it took a while. It's only a title. *shrug* There have also been members who have just created a new username to obtain official member status (I believe Spencer did that). So there's something else that you could think about doing. The problem with having an exception to the rule is that people will start pushing for more exceptions (give them an inch and they'll take a mile). |
