How can I insert an area where people can see my comments in a DIV overlay?

You need to first unhide your comments. If you don't know how too one thing you can do is replace the code hiding your profile with this one. Then just position them where you want.

The whole "special section thing" you can easily just customize the comment area to match your layout. If you have an image you just create one on the actual layout itself in ofcourse an image progrma. Its up to you. Really I don't think there's a way someone can tell you how to create a box for comments w/o seeing your layout. (In my opinion)
