how do you hide comments on a skinny layout? cause i tried a bunch of different codes and it always hides my friends too or it makes my table really big! here's a link to my myspace so you can see the layout

You tried this:
http://www.createblog.com/scripts/download.php?id=61 I don't really know why a hide comments code would stretch your page.  It shouldn't.
