So in class we were discussing sexism in language aaaaand this's what came up:

You would call a male negatively a "jerk", which, overall, isn't so bad. On the other hand, you would call a female negatively a "bitch", which, when compared to "jerk", is worse. You would call an overly-confident male "cocky", but a female a "cocky bitch". Definitely worse for the girl. Then there's the phrase "son of a bitch", which is most literally an insult to the mother, not the male.

Look at the common words for sexually expressive males, and then look at the common words for sexually expressive females.
