Did I over-react? My wife is a caring nurse. She has strong maternal instincts for one of her patients who happens to be a young man early 20's. Recently he had to stay in hospital (not related to my wife's work) for 4 day stretch. My wife and this guy traded texts and cell calls like there was no tomorrow. To me they are too comfortable as buddies. They play around like calling each other butthead , dork and other innocent teasing when just texting casually for no reason . They couldn't go more than a couple of hours without some sort of communication. She's really concerned for his health as he is not in great health. It's hard for me because she has become a sort of mother figure for him. I understand that. But when he's calling, texting her while we're out to dinner and she's calling him back at home where it's family time, that's where I draw the line.

To me that's not kosher for a patient and a nurse not quite 2x his age yet but close. Sounds flirty to me. I was certainly not pleased. Thoughts anyone? Thanks

By the way, his wife had issues with it also so I wasn't alone in my thinking.

When you tell your wife to stop talking to him, make sure you think back to that moment when he is dying on his deathbed alone.

He also has a wife so he won't die alone.

I'd definitely say something. It's ok if they just connected and enjoy each other's company but to do so while spending time with the family or going out to dinner? She can put her cell down for an hour or so, I'm sure. Just be reasonable about it when saying it.
