Growing up, there were two restaurants that my family and I would go to: a pho restaurant five minutes away and Hometown Buffet. Really special occasions would call for this Chinese restaurant eight minutes away. (Srsly.) Yeah, we'd go on vacations, but I was really comfortable with the small, small world my mother had made for me.

Then my friends started driving, and call me naive, but sheesh the world was a helluva bigger. No, I'm totally serious. I was surprised. Like "LOOK AT THE POSSIBILTIES!!!!!!!" surprised. There's something about driving, or maybe just growing up, that expands the world so much futher than I'd ever pictured it'd be.

I understand.
I used to live in Japan on an air base from the ages of 9-14 and my world (and my friend's) usually consisted of the base.
And the occassional trip off-base to Tokyo Disneyland or random stores.

But on base we used to just hang out at the school park, the youth center, a park near the place I lived or a friend's house. That was our world.
But then we all moved, most of us back to the states and now I realized that there IS a lot more out there, which makes me a little sad sometimes.
I wish I could go back to those elementary/middle school days where we were all naive and didn't really know what was going on in the world.
