me and my dad aren't really that close. he loves me a lot, and he hasn't done anything wrong or bad. he doesn't get drunk or smokes. he's just a regular, great dad. the problem is, i'm not that close to him and i don't like to go places with him. nowadays, if i want to go somewhere with a parent i always want to go with my mom. i only want to buy stuff with my mom and go places with my mom. my dad's a very nice dad. i don't know why this is happening. i asked my mom if she loved her dad (my grandpa) if she loved him when she was young. she told me that she loved him to death. well, around 2 weeks ago, on a saturday, my mom, my dad, and i were going to pick up some lunch to eat at home. well we decided to pick up the food after we shopped. so after we went shopping, my mom told me and my dad to drop her off at home with my sister and she wanted us two (me + my dad) to pick up the food. well, i said "nooo!" and my dad was like "why?". well when my mom was like ".. okay i'll go with you" i didn't say "no" or anything bad. i was happy. and i (stupidly) showed it; i was laughing and everything. well my dad got.. you know, sad. i know he will never forget it. well anyways now he's nice again, and this time i want to love him like my mom.

can anybody tell me how i can get closer to my dad and love him like i love my mom? sad.gif

Well, it sounds you like love your dad equally, but you don't want to hang out with him. I remember reading somewhere that kids / teens go through stages where they like being with one parent more than the other. It may just be a 'mom time' for you right now. I don't think there's really a need to feel guilty or whatever. If you refuse to hang out with your dad, that's obviously your own fault.
