I find stereotyping really annoying. I know that alot of people do it and sometimes we do it to ourselves lol. Even though some people might think its ok but other people might get offended to it. Not everyone is the same...
What do you think? |

I think first of all I must say that even though stereotyping is obviously wrong and annoying at times...there is no way of stopping it. Thats like trying to completely change the entire worlds way of living so that you can prevent global warming. Its NOT going to stop 100%.
Another thing is, it all depends on what type of stereotyping we are talking about. In my opinion there are two kinds. There is classifying people and making a generalization about them on things that they can not change...for instance, race, gender, height, so on and so forth. The other kind is making a generalization about something that is a known decision...like emo, or goth, or "gangsta". I am strongly, strongly against people who judge other people about their race or gender and things like that. However, I think people have every right to generalize a group of people that CHOOSE to be the way they are. If you are wearing clothes that looks like you just came out of prison and a bandana the color of a popular gang...I'm gonna assume you are dangerous. If you are wearing all black and refuse to smile...I'm going to assume you are gothic. If you are a boy with long black hair sweeped across your face and you are wearing jeans tighter than the ones I wear...you are EMO... bla bla bla. See what I mean? |
