QUOTE All over the place? How is that a bad thing? Don't you want to cater to a diverse group of gamers rather than just one crowd? its been all over the place about it losing momentum. thats a good thing? that fact that its on a television program discussing it says something. these are just two random sites i just happened to find. QUOTE would you rather have five decent games available or one "hit" game? so what are you trying to say? Mgs4,DMC4,Halo3,assassins creed, Heavenly sword,DMC4,Dark sector,Halo3,Mgs4,Mass effect,Bioshock,Final fantasy XIII, GTHD wont be hits? and metroid will? not to mention GTA 4 is being released this year as well, so thats not gonna be a hit? and mario galaxy will be? i guarantee that the titles i listed will be hits if mario galaxy and metorid are. so that makes the ps3 and 360 have like....6 hits each while nintendo has 2. and the thing is, the latest metroids got great scores, but no better than any of sony's or microsoft's AAA titles. and mario sunshine got good scores but not as good as metroid. so if one hit game can keep a system alive for months then what can 6 do? QUOTE The gamer's console... So the thing is Nintendo is releasing the same games as its always been. You said that you used to love Nintendo and Sega games. I guess that means that you weren't a gamer back then since they weren't releasing games like the ones being released for 360/PS3. Or are claiming that Nintendo is selling out? Cause I don't think that could be further from the truth. i already said when ps2 was released, new franchises were released that i enjoyed even more than nintendos franchises. and on top of that, ps2 provided me with tons of great games for not just one genre like adventure platforming, but for many other genres. mario 64 was bloody fantastic, one my best memories in gaming. but that doesnt automatically mean the follow-up and the follow-up after that will be amazing as well. thats the problem, just because i enjoyed one game in the past means nothing, the key word was "past". if nintendos answer to mario 64 was sunshine, then thats not that great, because it didnt provide me with nearly the same amount of insomnia and addiction the predecessor did. or metal gear 2 did.and the thing is, maybe mario sunshine was indeed better than 64 in every way, but ive played many other games on other consoles at this time to now compare. so maybe now that ive experienced many other games and my experience by the time sunshine came is much broader, i was able to see the games true colors shine and shows that there are better titles out there that do more, and provide you with more, and have more longevity. now the reason i say 360 and ps3 are more of a gamer's console is because of this: software and genre. like ps2, 360 and ps3 seem to have much more software, and much more quality software. and because they have more software, they have more genres. one of the problems i had with the cube was that most of its best games only reached one genre. adventure/platforming. while like on the ps2, 360 and ps3 seem to have many diverse genres and great games for each of them, i mean at least they provide you with that. i got to play great games from fighting to action to adventure to fps's to sandbox to rpg's. and on top of that i got to play online. i cant say the same for the cube, and from the titles being released and from what i have to look forward to on the wii, i cant say the same for that either. some people dont like adventure games and like rpg's some people dont like rpg's and prefer fps's. the 360 and ps3 attempt to provide you with the best of all worlds, while if you own a wii or gamecube, in order to get the best titles the majority of your games will have to be of one particular genre. it looks the same as last generation. gaming evolves, games evolve, the way you play games evolve(online), and while it seems that everything else progressing and racing forward and progressing with more titles and genres, nintendo seems to be staying stagnate, hoping that the same games will bring them success. reggie even admitted to it. and how long can that possibly last? how long can you drag out mario? i dont expect a metal gear solid 8. why should i have to do so with mario? QUOTE Not true. Here's a list of developers releasing games for the wii. okay but heres the strange thing,(besides 9 out of 60 devs being actual good ones). how many of the developers are making the games for the wii that people are actually excited about? instead they make something completeyly different and not as good. ubisoft, instead of making a GRAW,rainbow, or assassins creed for the Wii, they make red steel. take-two wont be making a GTA for them, will namco be releaseing a soul caliber or Tekken for the wii? if not then they are useless. will square enix be releasing final fantasy XIII or versus or kingdom Hearts on the wii? no. kojima might do something good. but is capcom releasing RE5 or DMC to the wii? nope. all the games that make those developers good arent being released on the wii. as a buyer i dont like that. QUOTE I think this is more like the DS vs PSP. The DS was a cheaper handheld with innovative controls, whereas the PSP was a more expensive and feature rich handheld. People criticized the DS and its lineup, and look at the race now. Like the Wii, it had a pretty good start, both during its regular launch and with the DS Lite. PSP wasnt rich with software, software sells systems more so than features. PSP had crap software while DS had decent software therefore it sold better. and it doesnt hurt that more little kids buy more handhelds than adults and psp was for more of a mature market, while the youngn's get the DS without a second of hesistation. nintendo could have released it with a picture of miyamotos ass on the front and it still woulda sold better. i wouldnt compare handhelds at all, nintendo is king of that race, consoles are different situation. that was sony's first go around in that category as well. |
