Okay, Well, I wasn't sure where this would go, so I thought it'd either go in Sports or School? Feel free to move the topic if you find it necessary.

Well, I'm going to be a freshmen in Highschool next year, and I was wondering...do you need experience to try out for a sport? I want to try out for soccer, but I have no experience whatsoever. Do they usually just accept everyone? Is there anything I can do to train a little by myself, so the chances of getting in are more likely? Most people at my school have already taken a specific sport to get into that sport in highschool, so I thought I wouldn't be able to get in since I have no experience.

Thankss if you can reply to this happy.gif

well, it really depends on how competitive sports are for your school.
my school splits sport teams into:
jv (mostly freshman + sophmores)
varsity (mostly juniors/seniors + the occasionally really talented freshman)
the thing is, at my school, even people who are average or above average at soccer can not get into the jv team. so if you're in a similar situation to me, i'd say you definitely need experience and simply training over the summer will not get you into the soccer team.

however, some sports aren't as competitive as others, and again, at least at my school, cross country is a sport most people don't need that much experience to get into. of course, you have to run like crazy, but if you run hard daily now until august, for example, i'd think you'd have a pretty good chance of getting in.

if your school isn't as competitive though, you could go to a soccer camp during the summer or simply grab a friend and play as often as possible. at try outs here, they basically ask you to run about 2k, and then ask you to do stuff like dribble the ball across the field, around cones, try to score a goal against somebody, etc. and then place you into teams so they can watch you play in a "game". good luck :)
