Which one do you prefer and why?

Actually, no. Shounen is more geared toward guys and shoujo is more geared toward girls. However, anyone can read both kinds of manga.
Words outta my mouth.  I'm a girl, but I prefer shounen such as Hunter X Hunter. Some shoujo is okay, but the romance can get awful corny... In Shounen if there is EVER any romance, it's not as corny and is a lil more realistic. They boys have their moods etc etc. That doesn't happen all the time in shoujo.
