Has anyone realized that when you get hit by big hard balls like basketball, soccer ball, football right on the face, it dosen't hurt as much as when you get hit by a golf ball or a tennis ball? Of course, either way, it'd hurt like crazy .. but I just wonder why the soft ones seem to hurt more and cause pain. These words come from my personal sports activity experiences. (Sports, outside, recreation centers). Once I got hit by a basketball right on the nose. I mean, yes it hurt, but only for like a minute .. and then the pain swept away, and I turned my attention back into the game. But getting hit by a tennis ball on the nose was pain in the ass ... got a nose bleed, gave me dizziness, just wasn't my day .... This might be lame to you guys, but it's true!

Smaller balls used for sports often have a greater density, but not always. Compare a softball to a tennis ball, for instance - the tennis ball is smaller, but the softball would hurt WAY more. And a ping pong ball wouldn't even hurt. On the other hand, I'd rather get hit by a basketball than a softball, because the softball is more dense and packs a bigger punch. Then there are marbles, which are smaller than most, and if one of those is thrown hard enough it can hurt worse than something up to a hundred times its size. Haha. I'm overthinking this, since it's obviously just an excuse to make another one of "those total bite-off of Suzzette's topic" threads. wink.gif
