What's the most frustratingly ignorant thing someone asked you or said about your religion/culture/group/etc.?
In my case, in relation to religion, a Catholic girl came up to me and asked: "Jewish people don't believe in God, right?" After explaining to her that Jewish people began the entire 'God-fearing-people' trend, she remarked: "Oh, so you believe in Jesus?" I responded by threatening to stab her in the jaw. Any similar stories? Edit: Also, if you didn't get the title, you may qualify to be ignorant yourself. Jewish = religion. Hebrew = language. Come on, now. Agggh, I get the Jewish-people-don't-believe-in-God thing all the time too! It is so annoying. I can't believe that people don't realize that the Jewish religion came BEFORE Christianity and was the first one to come up with the Judeo-Christian definition of God.
Today, a girl in my History class (a very Christian one, might I add) that was wondering how any fighting is considered a "holy war" since war is unholy (in reference to recent Islamic attacks) and I felt the need to inform her that every single religion, even her own (more so than most others), has been involved in a "holy war". |
