have you ever read the book stargirl? it tells a story about a out of place girl who has never thought of anything but others, yet she is so different that she is shunned and hated by the high school...

is there anyone you know like that?

My class read Stargirl in middle school. I thought it was a pretty good book until everyone at school started calling me Stargirl.
When I was in middle school, hardly anyone knew my real name. They all just had weird nicknames for me, but I was cool with it.
I used to dress up in crazy costumes and go to school. From butterfly wings, to cat ears, to pirate outfits.. I even dressed up as the girl from the Ring when it came out. (scared quite a few people there.. VERY realistic outfit)
I liked to sing to people.. and cheer people up.. let people borrow money when they needed it, even though I needed it for lunch.
I was also kind of a braniac.. so I didn't have to do anything during class. I used a lot of that time to help other people with their work.

I guess that's just who I was. But when everyone started thinking of me as the school Stargirl, I got a little scared. Needless to say, I don't act like that anymore. I guess you could say the book changed my outlook on life.

I think more people should be like Stargirl.
