I remember seeing an icon one time with a sort of white overlay about 50% transparent where the text came through clear, I remember it had something to do with the fill of the layer in Photoshop but I cannot remember where I saw the tut.
CORRECTION Found one!! ![]() See how the text is clear^^^^ Help please?!?! |

It can be done a few ways. One, you can change the blending mode of the text layer. It looks something like 'Multiply' or 'Color Burn'. You may or may not have to change the opacity of the text layer depending on how visible you want it. It also depends on what your original color is of the text. A dark pink/maroon may do the trick but white text will not.
