My friend has liked this guy for 4 years now. It's been sooo long.
Just this year, I got to know him, and I'm starting to like him a lot. But when she found out, she got mad at me.

I understand that she's mad, but she can't have dibs on him for 4 years, can she? He doesn't even like her back. I haven't figured out if he likes me, yet.

I would never date him for respect for my friend. But she's mad that I even LIKE him. I don't flirt a ton with him or anything. I talk to him like I would any other guy friend.

Am I in the wrong? Am I supposed to ignore him & stop talking to him? Because I know I can't ignore my feelings for him-- I've tried.

You aren't wrong... you can't help but have crushes. You need to tell your friend to respect the reality of the situation. You have control over your actions, but you can't possibly control your feelings. The only thing you can do is suppress your feelings, but for your "best" friend to tell you to do that is just wrong.

What you want to do with my advice is your choice. I think your "best" friend is just a competitive bitch. She's basically getting all flamed up to scare away the competition. I think you should talk to her about it, and either make come to a compromise or come to terms with the idea that she may not really be your "best" friend. Have you ever heard of the saying, "Bro's before Ho's."? Well, that saying exists for the situation you are facing at this very moment.
