Do you usually live life acting naturally, without much thinking about your actions? Or are always conscious of how you're acting and what you're doing?
I am in constant conflict over which is better, and usually, with things I can't decide on, I try to find the balance between the two. But I can't because, really, they feel too different. If I'm purposely doing something, then that defeats the purpose of the first. The first is the most "real", and I've come to realize that some of the best things in life come spontaneously without much thinkin at all. But at the same time, I want to be the best person I can be, and sometimes the "natural" me is a terribly mean, crass individual. |

You guys are so fortunate. It's not really a self-esteem issue I have, or anything about morale, but I guess I've been really into the intentions of actions. Like, I remember when in the first grade, all the "popular" girls would make this big deal about whether something was "on purpose" or an "accident". And back then, I was like "What the heck? Why does it matter?"
Looking back, I don't think they had the greatest intentions with their question of purpose vs. accident, but they had an idea going there. I'm just not sure which will lead to a better life; a life filled with constant spontaneous happiness and mistakes or a careful, progressive, if not too planned out, life. |
