I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE !, ahhhh Options

Gosh i hate it cause i graduated high school and everything was fine until they pushed you out the door to go to college. and NOW i dont know what to do with my life.

Well my problem is that i dont know what i wanna major in and do for the rest of my life.

I am up at 5 in the morning still looking through courses and colleges to transfer to but then it gets so confusing cause then you need prerequisites for everything. and you have to apply at this time or else you dont get accepted until fall. its been so long since i had a decent night of sleep.

the two majors that i am deciding on are completely different: Graphic Design and Nursing ?

Option 1. Graphic design : i love it and i know i would have fun during school cause it would be something i like doing. but then again how stable is this job? will i make a sufficient amount of money? But the downside to graphic design is that i dont know if i could find a job right after college. its tricky. i know exactly 3 people that graduated as graphic designers and were out of a job.... that scares me the most....

Option 2. Nursing : i could do nursing but it takes 4 years for a RN but i still have to get accepted to the program so i could do nursing then take the prerequisites... i would only have to work hard for the amount that it takes then this job will take care of me. it pays very well and its the second most stable job in america. and plus my mom is a nurse and she is the only one working in the family so she is able to support all of us. so this would take around 5 years or i could just become an associate.

Option 3. GD & LPNOr another way i could go is take graphic design for 4 years then if i dont have a job take up LPN (another kind of nurse) which will only take a little over a year. so i could have both.

I just dont know what i should do.. I am begging for some guidance and assistance . I needed to vent out, especially on createblog cause some of you might know the situation that im going through right now. And just so you know i am starting my second semester of college and majoring in graphic arts.

First off, you're not alone. Also although you may graduate with a certain degree, it doesn't mean that's what you're going to do for the rest of your life, you may end up doing something completely different. Its not set in stone that what you major in your second semester freshman year in college is what you must do for the rest of your life. I know people who are still undecided, and some are still until thier junior year and realize what they really want to do (kinda late but better late than never). They took a lot of basic courses they were interested in, and also talked to an academic advisor from school, and they'll talk to you about courses your college has and also job opportunities (in my school they do at least) and provide you with internships so you can test the waters of the job seeing if you like it or not. sometimes you may try some place like this girl i knew was majoring in psychology, but took an internship at a lawfirm as a secretary, and decided after that she wanted to major in law instead. So really you never know, and if you feel that you must pick a major now- you really don't depending on what college you're at and thier requirements, cause you need to take general education courses anywho. You could also major in nursing and minor in graphic deisgn or something like that or do what my firend is doing, double majoring, if you really want to do both. You really should think about what you love to do first, and your strenths, no one can tell you want to do with you life- its your life. Do you want to have a job that you hate, but earn a great deal of money? or A job you love, but less money? Either way you need to have sacrifice, but you may be lucky enough to find both, but it doesn't mean you'll know right now. Really no one knows when they go right into college.

Oh and your situation about nursing, all my cousins who don't know what they wanna do in college are being pursuaded by their parents and families to do that (its a flip thing you know it). Don't choose something just because you are being pressured by your parents or family to please them and take the safe way out- you'll regret it. My couisn for her freshman year in college majored in pharmacy, becaue her mom graduated with a degree in pharmacy and wanted her to do the same- she hated it (she hated science in the first place) but she didn't say anything and just stuck with it. After that year, she called my dad and talked to him about business careers (he's a CEO and a vice president of a bank and graduated with a degree in accounting and masters in finance - i believe i can't remember right now) and she finally realized she liked math and wanted to go into business.

I know its tough with pre requisites and all, but you gotta think it though and there's still a lot of time, you can always stick to undecided. But seriously relax, its college, its supposed to be fun too . =] Hope I kind of helped and good luck.
