I just went to Megacon last weekend and it was freaking awesome.
There's seriously endless of things to do at an anime con: For one, there's most of the time free photoshoots for people that cosplay. There's amv contests, costume contest, sewing contests, Kareoke (love it), anime shows to watch all day. You can also find all kinds of rare stuff at the dealers's room that you wouldn't even be able to find in eBay like props, character swords/weapons, anime dvds, j-pop and soundtrack cds of anything from games to animes, scrolls, costumes, anime hats, accessories, shirts, just endless of things and the best thing is that most of the time it isn't imitations. Its the real thing. On top of that you always find celebrities there in the cons like the voice actors and stuff. At Megacon I found the the guy that originally did the Hulk, one of the most famous playboy bunnies, Claire from the tv series "Heroes". I have also met the lady that did Ash Ketchum's voice a long with the voice actors of Vegeta, Bulma, Ed and Al Elric, Piccolo, and other characters. There's also gaming contest which include xbox, ps2s, DS, and gamecube. Its always awesome. You can win prizes and stuff too. This is just some of the events that go on at a con. I really recommend that any that could go should! Its so much fun and even if you do go alone you'll always make friends there by the end of the first day! My next con is Jacon in Orlando, Fl. I have been participating in anime cons since 2001 and cosplaying since 2002. |
