I've heard really terrible stories abou uber-competive-ness at school; like dog-eat-dog in the classroom in high school.
Nobody at my school is like, extremely cut-throat, but there are kids who will do anything to one-up that one certain person who always seems to "beat them" without trying. |

My high school is HELLA competitive, because in Texas, if your ranking is in the top 10% of your graduating class, you get automatic admission to public Texas universities/colleges as long as you complete the application. Even more kids want to go to Ivy League schools, and there's a large Asian population as well, which makes it even more competitive academically. Very cutthroat environment.
But you can't let it get to you, since there's 10,000 other ways to get admission into college. I do want to go to college, but I don't want to do it the traditional way. I feel like the cutthroat competition isn't worth getting caught up in, to be quite honest. edit - missmelon's post made me realize I needed to clarify something. Thanks! |
