I've heard really terrible stories abou uber-competive-ness at school; like dog-eat-dog in the classroom in high school.

Nobody at my school is like, extremely cut-throat, but there are kids who will do anything to one-up that one certain person who always seems to "beat them" without trying.

have i got a story for you.

back in 8th grade, i was best friends with this really smart girl. we always talked about how we never got student of the month awards even though we know we do good in school. then a few weeks before graduation, i got student of the month. we also learned our class ranks, and i was #1. i expected her to be happy for me, but instead, this was what she wrote in her xanga:
"so cheryl got student of the month. we always talked about how we never got student of the month. i guess that`s done now. well i guess the teachers view her as being better than me. anyone that is better than me cannot be my friend. already i find myself hating her more and more each day. so whether it be this year or the next, i`m going to stop talking to her. i hope she gets really upset when she reads this."
OF COURSE I GOT UPSET! she was supposed to be my best friend! i was just like.. what the hell?? so ever since then, we stopped being friends, as expected. we`re now in 10th grade, and we still have some classes together. i don`t acknowledge her at all, and i know i do good in school. i don`t care if i/she gets the better grade. but yeah. that`s the story.
