We all have had those friendships where we were once really close but now, it seems like we never talk. A lot of times it's because of distance: you go to a different school now, you moved, etc.

But in those cases, couldn't you just call them every now and then and keep that friendship alive?

So, basically, for those friendships, in your personal experience has it been your fault that the friendship isn't alive? Or have you put in the work but weren't getting much work back?

You know, I've had alot of those experiences too. It sucks, really.

One thing you've got to realize: you should never fully put the blame on yourself. It's both of your faults.

For example, I've had a best friend since middle school, but he was two years above me. When he went to college, we barely talked. Then we never talked. Neither of us really made the full effort to contact each other because we were busy with our own new friends. Thus, it's both of our faults.

However, if you tried to stay in touch with them, but they're the one's that didn't put the effort, you just have to tell yourself it's not worth putting any more effort. If you put some effort, and see some results back, that's when you know s/he's a real friend.

Moreover, the things about the past best friends are that it's so easy to rekindle the friendship. I recently IMmed my bestfriend and we're great now. We talked about how it was both of our faults and should try to put more effort in this time.

Hope that helped.

Good luck!
