I've heard really terrible stories abou uber-competive-ness at school; like dog-eat-dog in the classroom in high school.
Nobody at my school is like, extremely cut-throat, but there are kids who will do anything to one-up that one certain person who always seems to "beat them" without trying. |

My school is pretty competitive when it comes to class ranking. Some people only take advanced classes to boost their GPA because of the extra points that are given. And that's fine and all, but sometimes it gets out of hand. For instance, this one girl at my school didn't take a science class this year fearing she wouldn't do well. Instead, she took like three advanced art classes that are gimme grades (free 100s + the extra points).
I think the one thing that everyone at my school always competes about is: well I got a good grade, but I didn't study or work at all. I think it's retarded because I don't see how getting a B and not studying at all is better than getting an A and studying. I'm pretty sure colleges won't look at that. |
