In P.E., there's a unit for weight lifting.
We're all freshmen [[14-16 years old]] and some of the others are like...football plays and bench pressing 500 pounds! I can't even lift the bar up with weights. xDD It was a good workout for me, though. What do you guys think about weight lifting? |

Weight training is really good for you to build up muscle. Typically people should weight train around 3 times a week. No more than 3 days in a row, I believe. On the 4th day, if you really want to work out more, do cardio. (As in 30 minutes on a treadmill, recumbent bike, elliptical, etc). You can also do core exercises and fit it into your weight training routine, which is very efficient. But when you weight train you are tearing your muscles so you have to depend on your down time to let your muscles heal and repair themselves.
If you really are aiming to lose weight though, and you notice you lose all this weight then gain some back, don't be discouraged. You can lose a lot of weight within the first few weeks of weight training and then you will gain a lot of muscle back -- which is really good. You want muscle. Eventually you will plateau and that's when you know you need to step up your routine a bit. Sorry if this is conflicting information to what others believe, I work at a health and fitness gym for women. |
