my parents were gone this week, and while they were gone, our furnace stopped working - and though our neighbor got it on again, it dropped to 38 degrees in our house. while i was at school on thursday, our water line broke and flooded the basement. not really standing water, but the carpet and pad underneath were completely saturated. three rooms in our basement have now been torn apart - floors are out, and part of the ceiling. it's pretty bad, and really made my weekend suck. has this ever happened to anyone else?

Wow. I've never experienced the whole basement flooded.
In my house, the pipes have a tendency to break in the middle of the night when we're sleeping. When my mom finds out, she yells at my dad to wake up and he just calls the plumber. ![]() Usually when the pipes do break and the water starts flooding, it breaks with a big bang. My dad is a light sleeper, so he'll definitely wake up and check on it before it flooded anywhere. |
