my parents were gone this week, and while they were gone, our furnace stopped working - and though our neighbor got it on again, it dropped to 38 degrees in our house. while i was at school on thursday, our water line broke and flooded the basement. not really standing water, but the carpet and pad underneath were completely saturated. three rooms in our basement have now been torn apart - floors are out, and part of the ceiling. it's pretty bad, and really made my weekend suck. has this ever happened to anyone else?

yeah...and it had to have dropped below 32 while i was at school, because when it freezes, the pipes often burst.
the temperature outside that day was 30 below, so i understand that it dropped so fast :[ it seemed like kind of a freak thing to me, because i didn't even know that could happen. |
