Listen, I'm not racist. I'm just bringing up a topic that I know is on alot of people's minds.
Everynow and then I see these movies, or whatever...people saying that black people can't get anywhere in life because they are lazy, or because they are black they can't get anywhere in life. I was sitting infront of Jeremy's house waiting for him to answer his friggin door. I was thinking about Albany(Where I live for the most part) and how it's just run down. Most of the people that live there are black. I was thinking about how I see all this crap about how black people always say they might as well as just give up and deal with what they got. In movies, or even in real life. It pisses me off because the color of your skin does not affect your brain at all. It's an excuse and not a reason... ...if it was a reason then every black person would be in poverty. Is this not true? And you can't blame it on your environment because there have been many black people who have over come it. So, why do some black people just give up and don't try to succeed? I know not only black people do it, but I'm just bringing this one up first. I'll talk about white people some other time just to be fair. Input please. If this is in the wrong forum, just move it. Thank you. |

Stereotypes and racism.
Black people are no different from asians, whites, hispanics, whatever. Each race and background can acheive whatever dream they wish to have if they work on it. Looks don't matter. Like the saying, "It doesn't matter 30 years from now, what clothes you wore, what car you drove, what people you've dated. What matters is what you learned and how you used it. " People concoct these kinds of weird ideas that black people are poor because of Africa and the amount of poverty there. Yes, black people there are in poverty but that does not go for all black people. To your question on why some black people just give up on success is because some of them actually believe the stereotypes being place on them, causing them to think, "Since everyone says that, even if I do try to succeed, I'm not going to make it anyway so why bother the trouble. " I'm not black but people really need to stop sterotyping everyone. |

" I'm not black but people really need to stop sterotyping everyone. I'm not stereotyping. I'm simply trying to make a point. People stereotype themselves. This kid I know would go on all day about how he was black and that he was being oppressed by the white man. You know what? It got really annoying. Cause we didn't do anything to him. He actually graduated higher than I did. That doesn't say much, cause I'm dumb, but do you see my point? I'm not the one saying that they can't succeed. THey are. And I'm not just trying to pick out black people. I know there are all kinds of people who make dumb ass decisions... I've actually met and talked to homeless people. It sucked. But, all I hear all the time is that urban black people are lazy. You know what? I feel it's some what true. I see it. It's not like I don't live far from the city. Josh even said so, and he lives there. You know that there is some truth in all stereotypes right? |
