Clubs Options

[Sorry if there's already a topic about this]

I think that there should be a category called "Clubs" in the Interests section. I think it would be easier to find club topics, and for all the clubs to be ordered in a section instead of scattered all around the forums. It's fine the way it is, but I think it would be more easier and organized to make a section for clubs.

Any thoughts about it?

Please, refrain from blaming James exlusively for the decision to move a topic to the Sandbox.

If you want to blame anyone, blame me. It was my suggestion to actually move all the clubs to the Sandbox because, ultimately, they are chit chat threads.

Actually, I wanted a Club Subforum with post counts disabled.

This came up when I was taking (A LOT) of time to read through Club threads and found that although some had substance, most had nearly 10-15% (rough, rough estimate) good posts and the rest were either self congratulatory posts, salutations ("hi!" type of posts) and good old fashioned AIM-type banter. I am not referring to one Club either, I am referring to many.

I'm just saying, before you pass judgement on one moderator, ask how that decision was made. James doesn't have a personal grudge against anyone. He has been completely professional and objective on Staff, besides his personal feelings. There's a difference.

I have PM'd both Josh and Diana regarding the potential spam in the unholy club. I particularly asked Josh if he could try to keep it in check. Josh, I apologize, but:

He's so amazing... I personally see him as a legend. We should thank him for being alive by having a club holiday dedicated to him.

You didn't exactly seem to be trying to even set a good example. The only one who has been trying and making a real constant effort is Diana, particularly after we PM'd eachother (which she did with much grace, although does have a penchant for one-liners at times ;-)).

After reading through the last few pages of that club, I am 100% behind James' decision to move the club to The Sandbox.

And you know I have no personal bias against any of you. At least, I hope you guys know that.

I know you don't hate us or have bias against us, and that is why I respect you. If you were the one to move the thread it may have meen taken differently. On the other hand, you weren't, and James was. Our thread wasn't half as bad as threads like:

I mean seriously, just because we have a conversation going on within our club you guys have to move it? Does this mean that we have to create a new topic for every conversation that we have? C'mon, "How are you feeling?!" the topic... THAT'S NOT SPAM!? That topic is filled with one liners and posts that contain merely "smileys". If you guys are so worried about "post counts" then why not get rid of topics like these? In fact, since you guys insist on being the Nazi's of spam (Using Sarcasm) why not just change the name of the "Debate" forum to the "Lounge"? Why can't we talk about how we feel within our club?

Seriously, if you are going to have a lounge. Then you guys need to lighten up. Our club is anything but a joke. We have just recently posted missions encouraging people to contribute to the community (Please check it out). If anything, our club has more "point" to it than any of the other clubs on this site. It's not just any club. It's not just some group of people that are Chinese, Hispanic, Filipino, Jewish, or liberal getting together just for the sake of being together. Our club actually encourages everyone willing to join to contribute to the community, and you're clearly penalizing us when other topics are obviously far worse than ours.

I think that having a CLUB section would be great. All the clubs on this site are full of what you guys consider to be "SPAM". There is not one club on this site that doesn't contain people posting dozens of one liners. Why don't you check out the entertainment section. There's plenty of spam there, if you haven't noticed.

Off Subject: On another note, You guys definitely should not have let James, of all people, move the topic. We all feel his hated against me. Although he doesn't state it. It's pretty clear that he doesn't like me, and I'll openly admit that I DO NOT LIKE HIM. It seems as if he moved our thread out of spite, and not legitimate reason. He doesn't show me respect, and until I see him acting professionally (For a decent period of time as proof that he has changed) I will never show him respect. Kayseeisms, Dutchess of Dork, Mona Lisa, Katie, Dani, mzkandi, and even Kathleen (a little bit) you have all earned my respect. On the other hand, I see James as... well, you can just refer to my post in the Unholy Trinity Official Thread.

Again, all Clubs are being looked at and reviewed. There is some cultural content in that thread, however, I'll repeat myself and say that all Clubs are being reviewed.

I'm not seeing an overly spam filled thread here. You have a few folks who spam, but the majority are responding to the topic at hand and aren't posting exclusively with smilies or 1-2 word responses.

Actually, I am seeing good responses there that actually stick to the topic. The title seems spammy, but the content isn't (with the exception of a couple of individuals). At least, that's my opinion.

Conversation? Josh, you guys were talking about tomatos and Phil Collins for goodness sake. If more members would try to keep on topic and actually contribute as well as chat, that would be fine. If the leaders of your group would start taking a cue from Diana, you'd all be better off and have a much better chance at having the Club moved back to the Lounge.

And honestly, why result to name calling? Have I ever called you a name? You refer to us as Nazis and that would mean including me in that as well. That's hardly fair and hardly a way to prove a point. I've been really trying to see everyone's point of view, but that type of regard isn't going to help.

With all due respect, you are being terribly closed minded, especially since you are so intent on making it appear that we need to lighten up. Those cultural clubs encourage the sharing of ideas, the sharing of culture similarities and differences. You are not being penalized worse than anyone else. The Zamunda tribe was moved as well (I believe and if not I will take care of that right now).

I think this needs to be pointed out:
"Anything not pertaining or contributing to the topic" is a specific rule stated both in the Community Guidelines and in the Lounge Forum Rules topic. We actually are quite liberal in not closing or moving a thread everytime someone doesn't abide by this. However, when it happens over and over again (please refer to the last few pages of your club, for example) then we have to do something about it. Like I mentioned above, if you guys stop chit chatting, it can be moved back (unless a subforum is created). So far, not seeing anything that would appear otherwise (except for one mission Holly posted and the majority of Diane's posts (again, she occasionally does the one liner as well, but makes up for that in actual topic content related replies).
