this question has always been flowing in my mind..
why do girls get more moody/emotional on their period? is it even real that most girls get more "moody/emotional" on their period? thoughts about this? (sorry if there's another topic about this =x) |

The cause of PMS is due to the drastic drop in hormonal levels. After a girl's period, it takes about 7 or so days for the eggs in the ovaries to mature. On the 14th day, generally in the middle of the cycle, ovulation occurs. As the egg is released from the ovaries, a hormone called progesterone is also released. The body then prepares itself for a baby, which requires high doses of estrogen & progesterone in order to substain life. If the egg is not fertilized, then the endometrium sheds (period) and the hormones basically plummet because they are not needed. Due to the drastic decline, girls are entitled to a few days of fuss before menstruating. eta; Ever heard of postapardum depression? It's basically the same concept on a lower level. |
