Or are you indifferent to their perception of you? And you don't care what you do, how you do it, why you do it, so long as you please yourself or for another reason? And why?
(Doesn't have to be about certain individuals, e.g. parents, boyfriend or girlfriend, a complete stranger, just in general.) |

I don't think I go out of my way to try to please someone, unless there's an unusual good reason to it.
However, I do believe everybody deserves a certain degree of respect, regardless of their position and/or their relationship with me, so possibly what I do consider basic courtesy can be seen as trying to please to someone else's eyes. To me paying for my boss' coffee is exactly the same than giving 10 euros to a homeless person, in a sense. I am not particularly concerned about personal opinions, too. It's all a matter of treating people as, well, fellow people to me. |
