they HAVE to make their kids learn an instrument .. it'll be most likely a guitar or the piano. they'll have you playing golf as a sport rather than football/basketball. they're too strict about your school performances.

My mom didn't force me to play piano; I chose to continue on with it. And I ended up liking it, a lot.
Nonetheless, she was the one who mentioned it, and I think a lot of other non-Asian parents wouldn't have. Mentioned it, I mean. And another thing about Asian parents (especially with their daughters), they really don't care about sports. I mean, she made an effort to sign me up for extracirricular activities like skating, swimming, etc...but she never expected anything from me. Just learning new things, I guess. As for grades, my mom does expect something of me, but I'm usually the one that actually cares about them. I expect straight A's from myself, and although that may have been influenced by my parents, I'm self-motivated. |
