I have a rare diease called congenital anosmia, which basically means that I have had this since birth. Pretty much, I can't smell & I've never been able to. It is very rare, especially in girl, but I though it would be cool if I could find someone on here that had the same or a relating disease.

my grandma has it. although, i dont think hers is congenital.
can you still taste your food as well as someone who doesnt have it? because if you thin kabout it..when you have a cold and your sinus' are blocking airways, you cant taste as well as if you werent sick. |

Yeah. I was reading some studies & as people get older, some of them gradually being to lose their sence of smell, just like they gradually lose some hearing, eyesight, ect. When I was around 9, I got of the bus one day & my mom blindfolded me just as I was about to walk in the door. Of course, I asked her what the hell she was doing, & she explained that she was giving me a taste test. So she had several glasses & I drunk some of each one & told her what they were. I got all of them right, although I could not explain the flavours on the jucies. So I would say I can taste, but not as well as a normal person. When I have a cold, everything tastes exactally the same actually. ![]() |
