I brought this up Backstage but want member input as well.
Would anyone oppose the idea of removing the Offical Designer status of Off. Des.'s if they are no longer active and/or contributing? There's no harm in leaving them as it is since there isn't already a rule stating one has to continue to contribute once they meet the minimum requirements but doing this "cleanup" would keep the Off. Des. group tidy. It was suggested that there be a requirement for Off. Des. to submit a certain number of submissions for a given amount of time. 3 per month? 3 per 3 months? The only issue with this idea is that it's a bit tedious to keep track of the number of submissions someone submits and keep an eye on any new submissions accepted. Agree/disagree? Comments/suggestions? |

^ I don't think that contest would be a good idea.
I think it's really quality that matters, not quantity. I know and trust design-type staff to reject the layouts which are not up to standard. However, if such a contest is set up, it may only put stress on designers to make an average quality layout in a short period of time instead of a high quality layout in a longer period of time. I'd rather prefer a high quality layout. I don't think we should force official designers to submit a certain amount of stuff in a certain period of time, but maybe only after more than 3 months of inactivity, then the admins can take off their title. Any period of time shorter than 3 months wouldn't be fair for designers to work on something good to submit. I know sometimes it takes a long while for a good piece of work to be finished and I think the contribution itself is really what counts. |
