Yup, the colors are very bright. Not only does it not match with the graphic, but it is also very hard on the eyes. The idea of having the same photo as the background for the text areas is nice but I think the opacity should lowered. Or at least, put a white fill layer over them and lower the opacity of that so that when you make your divs, any written can be seen without straining the eyes. Try blending the photo in the banner using a layer mask and gradient instead of erasing the edges. I'd also work on the text. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors, textures, blending modes, layer styles, etc.
Edit: Oh, and here's a tip. When deciding on a color scheme, use the eye dropper to pick colors from the graphic itself. |

When deciding on a color scheme, use the eye dropper to pick colors from the graphic itself. thanks a lot for all the great advice. how do you get the colors using the eye dropper? i will definitely play with the layering and the opacities that you suggested tomorrow. i hope they work but if they dont, i know you'll be there to help. THANKS AGAIN! For a first, it's nice, those are nice buttons in the top and you chose a very nice picture, but the whole thing is....scream-y. Like very over the top, try toning it down by using not-so-bright colors, but good for first. i apologize for the picture being a little loud i just love pink i'll definitely work on the color scheme tomorrow and hopefully you will like the outcome.
