Hi everyone.
Okay well I just started my sophmore year of highschool and I've never had a boyfriend before.. not that I don't want one. Trust me, I do, but the thing of it is..I'm not so sure its worth wanting or trying for. Considering I've never had a boyfriend, I wouldn't know. So I was hoping you guys could tell me the good and bad parts of relationships so I know if its really worth what people say it is. |

Well yes, it all depends on what you want to get out of the relationship, and who you develop that relationship with. Some people, along with the right timing and situation, will make it all worth it. But on the flip side, some people, with the wrong timing and/or situation, will make having a relationship seem too much to make it worth it.
I can't tell you if it's worth it or not, because I'm not quite sure of that myself. My first relationship with a guy started out rather beautifully. He was my first boyfriend. I liked him, thought he liked me too. So you can imagine my joys when he asked me out. Then things turned bad. He didn't quite treat me right, but being the girl that I was, thought it was me who did something wrong. Gave him even more attention...got to a point where it felt like I was pushing for something to happen. And finally, after a month of pushing/pulling he broke up with me. And being the first relationship, I didn't know how to handle it. I thought, at the time, that it was me who did something to make him not like our relationship....that it was my fault and that, in a way, I pushed for him to break up with me. Then I found out that he didn't like me, and only asked me out because he knew how much I liked him, and thought it was the right thing to do to ask me out. I was so hurt after that...and at that point, I felt that having a relationship isn't worth anything at all. Result of that? I went off liking boys and having anything to do with boys past a friend for a year and a half or so. As life goes on, you move on. And so that's what I did. And by some pure chance, I fell for a close guy friend of mine, and we're together now. While yes, the process of us getting together was rather...hard due to his ex girlfriend who used to be my friend, we're together. And I feel every moment we have is worth all the hassle and pain and worry that I've felt before we got together. He came at the right time for me. And we clicked really well...so it's all worth it. Moral of my long winded post? When you meet the right person in the right time under the right situation, and you truly like and love them, everything will be worth it. Because you'll appreciate them, and this in itself, drives you to feel that everything with him/her is worth the negatives. This is what makes long term relationship and marriage work. With the wrong person (or even right person), but during the wrong time or situation, it won't work, and you won't feel that it's worth anything. |
