okay, it's been suggested before, and i'm bringing it up again.
why can't we have an official member's lounge? it'd be a lot easier to keep good (just de-official member problem people), and would provide incentive for being an official member. if you're going to say that people will spam to get in, well, people do that already for official member tools. |

michael, here's a simple question:
Is it true that the discussion thread backstage causes moderators to be more active backstage and consequently not active in the main lounge? If it is, which i dont' see how it wouldn't be, then either 1) this is the cause of inactivity in cB, or 2) this doesn't affect the activity of cB. if it is 1, then get rid of it. if it is 2, then an official members lounge will in no way harm cB. now, as to wy it would increase discussion, it is quite simple: exclusivity. With fewer people posting, there is a higher likelyhood that the same peopel will be posting. This repeated interaction is the basis to developing community. it is the reason why spinoffs of cB are generally more tight knit communities. It is the reason why moderators are more tight knit than the rest of cB. And it is the reason that an official members lounge will create a more tight knit community and thus a better discussion. as for it not being fair to people who went on hiatus, that's more of a discussion of the qualifications of official membership. |
