Alright guys, I was actually trying to apply for a job somewhere and it asked me if I was authorized to work in Canada.

I'm not an adult yet, so would that consider me to be not authorized? Or are they not thinking legally, but checking your records *is confused*

I had to get a work permit from my school to work since I'm under 18 (which is silly, since it's legal at 16), so maybe it's something like that?

The work permit is to ensure that your employer knows that it's illegal to give you more than x number of hours a week (I forget the number) because you're still a full-time student.
