I honestly do not believe that there is a definitive comparison between the two.

I had to grow up fast, too fast when I was a child. I had a mother who was emotionally inept, a father whom I had never met and two younger siblings with weekend dads. I cooked for them and bathed them. My grandmother basically raised us and I was at a very young age when I became quite aware of the fact that life wasn't fair, and that emotional reciprocity with a parent wasn't assured.

As a young teenager (about 13) my grandmother died and I had to grow up even quicker. Instead of our mother being immersed in theater, she was immersed in school. More than likely, it was too late for us to be close either way. She was still negligent with her children and we were still very poor. At the same time, I understood and was much more mature than the average child in the neighborhood because I never equated material gain with good character.

You get older and you grow up. Sometimes the two just aren't parallel with each other in advancement. There are individuals that grow up faster than they age, and those who age faster than they grow up.

And then there are those who ramble way too much when they post. whistling.gif
