what is the difference between growing up and getting older to you?

I grew up when I first witnessed domestic violence at 11 years old. I grew up when I found my best friend with his brains blown out thanks to a .357. I grew up when I found out my deployment date. All this growing up and I'm only 19.
A person can age and not mature. A person can also get the shock of a lifetime and mature (mentally) overnight. Thanks to the unfortunate events on this earth, you have 10 year old men fighting wars and 40 year old boys living at home with mom. |
