Hey what's up guys, well basically I have Windows XP with a Pentium 4 2.5GHz CPU and 992 MB of RAM
The problem I'm currently having is that when I drag images within Photoshop, the CPU usage shoots up, and there's been a few times that my PC just freezes. Right now Photoshop is installed onto my Primary drive, the C: But I have a 200HD, and I only used up 6GBs as of now. What exactly is causing my PC to freeze? Oh and by the way, I just re-installed my Windows XP so basically it's running as fast as possible since I don't have useless crap on my hard drives anymore. The one and only thing I can think of... is the paging file. The total paging file size for all drives is 1488MB. Is there any tweaking of any sort that I can do? I'm seriously not lookin forward to doing any upgrades to my PC... I just recently replaced both my RAM sticks with two 512s. What do you think I should do? |

I found some information regarding that:
QUOTE Solution 8: Update the video card driver. Many video card manufacturers frequently update their software drivers. You may have an outdated video card driver even if you recently purchased the video card. Contact the video card manufacturer for an updated driver or download one from the manufacturer's website. (To determine the manufacturer of a video card, view the card's properties in Device Manager.) You can often determine if the video driver is outdated by changing the color depth and resolution of the video card or by disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Solution 9: If your video card has less than 128 MB of RAM, consider updating it. For optimum performance in Photoshop, use a video card with more than 128 MG of RAM. From - Slow performance and screen redraw problems in Photoshop (CS2 on Windows) Issue: Photoshop runs extremely slowly, or it slows suddenly and appears to freeze. I can tell you from personal experience that upgrading my VCard totally helped with sluggish issues I had in Photoshop (and in PC gaming, for that matter). |
