Hey what's up guys, well basically I have Windows XP with a Pentium 4 2.5GHz CPU and 992 MB of RAM
The problem I'm currently having is that when I drag images within Photoshop, the CPU usage shoots up, and there's been a few times that my PC just freezes. Right now Photoshop is installed onto my Primary drive, the C: But I have a 200HD, and I only used up 6GBs as of now. What exactly is causing my PC to freeze? Oh and by the way, I just re-installed my Windows XP so basically it's running as fast as possible since I don't have useless crap on my hard drives anymore. The one and only thing I can think of... is the paging file. The total paging file size for all drives is 1488MB. Is there any tweaking of any sort that I can do? I'm seriously not lookin forward to doing any upgrades to my PC... I just recently replaced both my RAM sticks with two 512s. What do you think I should do? |

Eh, thats weird. I had a similar problem with my old computer. I couldnt fix it... so I just gave up and bought a new one.
![]() I have a 3 ghz, and 2gb of ram, and my cpu usage right now is only around 5%, and thats with Photoshop, AOL, and iTunes running. Your ghz and ram shouldnt be whats slowing you down. When you're at the Windows Task Manager, whats your cpu when you have no programs running? And whats the pf usage, threads, and processes number? [edit] Its not normal for your computer to have a really high cpu, unless you have multiple programs running. Do you download stuff alot? And, do you have up to date virus and/or security programs on your computer? If so, you might want to do a virus scan. If you do have some type of trojan / virus, reinstalling windows wont get rid of it. QUOTE I'm at the point of aligning all 3 fans pointin towards the CPU and RAM sticks and buying 15lbs bag of dry ice so it pushes the coldness into the case lol. But wouldnt that keep other areas of your computer from not being cooled properly? |
