Every kid growing up has naive, childish fancies to what life is really about. Kids are full of innocent misconceptions, narrow perspectives.
What were yours as a kid? Mine: As a toddler, I was pretty sure that my toys had feelings. Adults had a flawless, god-like status, and always intimidated me. I thought all women were mommies, no questions asked (yay, society for making me think that!). I wanted to be an artist when I grew up, and didn't understand my parents when they told me it was near impossible. I also thought as a last resort, I would be a president when I grew up, hahaha. I didn't know what an air conditioner was, even though we always had one. When my mom shouted the typical, "Close the door-- we're not paying to keep the outside cold!" I never understood. All parents existed for was to make your life full of pain. A result of being physically abused, I'm afraid. |

When I was a kid I was really attached to my mother. I thought she would never die and stay 38 even after she passed her 40's (she's 50 now). Then when I was 7 my brother told me that mom will die once she turns 50. I was so scared for 2 weeks until my mom was wondering why I was being unusually REALLY nice to her.
When I was 8 I think, I thought fireworks were made of pixie dust. I thought if I drank sea water and ate a lot of fish I can be a mermaid (then a day later my mom told me that it was impossible) I thought rain meant God crying and sunshine meant God is happy. (I think this was a common misconception for kids who were raised religiously) I forgot what age this was but I remember thinking that God put a lot of cash under my parents' pillows during their sleep for being such good Christians I also thought that the sun was actually really small (the size of what it looks like from earth, not a gigantic star). |
