Hey what's up guys, well basically I have Windows XP with a Pentium 4 2.5GHz CPU and 992 MB of RAM
The problem I'm currently having is that when I drag images within Photoshop, the CPU usage shoots up, and there's been a few times that my PC just freezes. Right now Photoshop is installed onto my Primary drive, the C: But I have a 200HD, and I only used up 6GBs as of now. What exactly is causing my PC to freeze? Oh and by the way, I just re-installed my Windows XP so basically it's running as fast as possible since I don't have useless crap on my hard drives anymore. The one and only thing I can think of... is the paging file. The total paging file size for all drives is 1488MB. Is there any tweaking of any sort that I can do? I'm seriously not lookin forward to doing any upgrades to my PC... I just recently replaced both my RAM sticks with two 512s. What do you think I should do? |

In my Performance Options, under the Advanced tab; the in the Virtual Memory section it reads, "A paging file is an area on the hard disk that Windows uses as if it were RAM."
Total paging file size for all drives: 1488MB This is the only assumption I have as far is it's making something (either RAM, CPU, or HDD) over work itself, maybe even over heating. BTW the case is wide open with 3 additional fans installed, this is a custom machine. I'm at the point of aligning all 3 fans pointin towards the CPU and RAM sticks and buying 15lbs bag of dry ice so it pushes the coldness into the case lol. No but seriously, I don't know what to do. |
