best notebook for me, help?

i've wanted to get a laptop for the longest time and now my parents are finally considering it [yay] but it has to be between $600-$800. ill mainly be using it for music and homework and of course ill install aim but im not too sure on wat is best for me. does anyone know what i should get and what to look out for because im not all that computer-smart or at least when it comes to choosing the best one. can anyone help?

Toshiba is cheap. You have to be careful with the keyboard though.. I broke mine.
Get one with XP Media Center with a good graphics and sound card. And a good proceser with 516+ RAM.

I LOVE ALIENWARE x845458435719. Their laptops are expensive though. And desktops. But they're really powerful. You can actually get terrabytes.. Up to 2.5TB on desktops (and 240GB on laptops), I think. And terrabytes are like virtually unlimited.
Which is why I love Alienware.
But you probably shouldn't get it 'cause you'll only be using it for basic things. Buy Alienware if you use it for gaming and stuff.

So I recommend Toshiba.
